Pastor Mike was born in Germany and has lived all over the United States and in Germany. During his childhood he moved often which has given him an appreciation for people of all backgrounds. He learned to make friends easily and often. He graduated High School in Marietta, Georgia at Lassiter High School.
He attended Mississippi State and graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. He worked in sales for five years prior to following the call to ministry. His work experience has helped him be a better pastor. In business as in a faith community all trust and faith is based on relationships. Pastor Mike believes that as we live out our lives what matters most is not what we say, rather it is how we interact with others. They will know we are Christians by our love!
Pastor Mike graduated from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio where he earned his Masters of Divinity. He believes that his experience at United taught him more about the church, people and what it means to be in ministry.
When Jesus was challenged as to the most important commandment of all he answered, "to Love God with all your heart and to love your neighbor as yourself. " The ministry of Kilgo has been to love one another.
Pastor Mike brings an incredible perspective on who our neighbors are and how we really treat them. Our Goal is to follow the example of Jesus and love each person despite their status in society and their social acceptance. All people are invited to the table with Jesus and all people are invited to worship and celebrate the life we have in Jesus Christ at Kilgo UMC.
Pastor Mike is married to Carroll and they have four beautiful children. Their passion together is to offer new ways and ideas to reach out to all children and ensure that Kilgo is a safe and inviting place for children to be themselves, learn and grow.
We invite you to come and meet Mike and Carroll and their whole Family. |
